Among the best places I have ever visited, Leh, Ladakh
is one of the best. You can get the chance to enjoy the thrill of driving
through Zoji La Pass from Srinagar to Kargil, on one hand and the opportunity
to view the beauty of the Great Himalayas with spurious vegetation on the other.
For the lack of vegetation, the beauty of Leh is also called the ‘Lifeless
Beauty’.
1. The cruise through the Khardung La Pass
The
way from the town of Leh to Nubra Valley through the Khardung La Pass, which is
the world’s 2nd highest and India’s highest motor able road. The
journey is really thrilling, not only because of the enormous height, which is
5,359 meters or 17,582 feet, but also the visibility of snow-capped
picks from the pass.
2. The
expedition through the exciting Zoji La Pass
Zoji La pass is the pass, which connects Srinagar to Leh. The
journey is really exhilarating, as the person sitting on the right side of the
vehicle cannot see the lower part of the vehicle, and what is visible, is the depth
of the pass. At the time of Amar Nath Yatra, you can see the parked vehicles
which seem to be multi-colored match boxes, from such a massive height.
3. The gorgeous Pangom Tso
Pangom Tso is one of the strangest marvels of the Mother Nature. A
lake, at a height of about 4350 meters or 14270 feet is really unbelievable. A
small part of the lake belong to India, and the rest to Tibet. The strange fact
about the lake is, it apparently seems to be blue, when you are close to it.
But if a number of persons see the lake from a distance, each of them will
notice a different color of the lake.
4. Nubra Valley, the desert and mountain in a single place
Nubra Valley is place, which is another marvel of the nature. You
can get desert, mountain and river, all at a single place. Though the desert is
a cold desert, unlike hot desert, you can enjoy camel safari at Nubra Valley,
as well. Unlike other camels, the camels at Nubra Valley have 2 humps.
5. The brilliant creations of the nature
Strange formations are naturally formed on the mountains of the Leh,
due to the dry weather and the chilling temperature. The natural formations
seem to be like artificial structures made by human beings. The formations are
worth seeing, and a treat to the eyes for architects.

6. The solitude of Sarchu
Sarchu is a place, where you can visit, on the way back from Leh to Manali.
It is a very cold remote village, where people hardly live. No electricity and
mobile communication is available continuously for miles. Thus, you can enjoy
the real thrill of an expedition and adventure by living in small tents in an
open space.
7. The never-ending long drive
You can enjoy the true beauty of Leh, once you go out for a drive,
from your hotel, to the sightseeing spots. An unending road with clear blue
sky, with mountains everywhere is a real treat to the eyes, for people living
in cities.
8. Magical confluence of Zanskar and Sind
Unlike other confluences, the confluence of Zanskar and Sind is
really worth seeing. It is beautiful to see the rivers with different colors of
water meeting at a point. The water of the rivers are green and blue and the
confluence is really colorful, for their appearance.
9. Magnetic Hill disobeying gravity
Magnetic Hill shows a phenomenon of defying the gravity. It is
believed that the place, or the point has a great magnetic field strength,
which is capable of pulling the car against the slope in the neutral mode of
the car’s engine. Though there are controversies regarding the fact, but you can
at least get a chance to experience it.
10. The exquisiteness of the Monasteries
Is spite of the thrill and adventure of Leh,
there are religious places or Monasteries, as well. Hemis, Thiksey, Lamayuru,
Alchi, Likir are few of the most popular Monasteries. Get the opportunity to
enjoy the perfect silence of the Monasteries with some melodious yet peaceable
hymns.
